Patrol Officer

Compensation/Benefits:

Starting salary for entry level patrol officers is $21.62/hour or $44,969/year with a 3 percent increase in 6 months after completion of FTO program to $22.27/hour or $46,321/year.

Starting salary for experienced officers (Patrol II) starts at $23.78/hour or $49,462/year with a 3 percent increase in 6 months after completion of FTO program to $24.49/hour or $50,939/year.

Paid holidays, sick leave, and vacation.  Free health and dental insurance for employee.  TMRS retirement - 2/1 match @ 7 percent.  Department issued uniforms, duty weapon, leather, holster, and other equipment.  Certificate pay from $1,000 to $1,800 per year based on level of certification.

Job Requirements:

Must be 21 years of age.  TCOLE certified or currently enrolled in a law enforcement academy.  Valid/clean driving record.  Able to work shift work, weekends, and holidays.  Must have high school diploma or have GED.  Must pass extensive background investigation, written test, physical agility test, and oral review boards.  Hiring process will include psychological testing and physical exam/drug screen.

TCOLE certified officers or officers who are currently enrolled in a law enforcement academy only need to apply.  Candidates who have received a Dishonorable Discharge from previous employers will not be eligible to apply.

Telecommunication Officer (Dispatcher):

Compensation/Benefits: 

Starting salary $16.81/hour.  Adjustments based on experience.

Job Description:

Receives calls/requests for police, fire, and emergency medical services; dispatch public safety units; operate various telecommunications equipment; prepare reports and maintain files.   

Job Requirements:

Must be able to work shift work, weekends, and holidays.  Must pass extensive background investigation, written test, and oral review board.  Hiring process includes psychological testing and physical/drug screen.  No prior experience necessary.  On the job training provided.

Jailer:

Compensation/Benefits:

Job Description: 

Booking and releasing inmates from City Jail.  Search inmates, log property, maintain safety and security of inmates, officers, and staff.  Complete jail paperwork.

Part Time School Crossing Guard:

Compensation:  $12.87/hour.  Hours are Monday-Friday 6:45 am-8:15 am and 2:45 pm-4:15 pm.

Job Description:  Provide safe environment for school children to cross street and arrive at school safely.

Job Requirements:  Must be able to work in inclimate weather.  School crossing equipment provided.
