PATROL CAPTAIN:

Compensation/ Benefits:

This position is an exempt position and includes a competitive compensation package including an annual salary range from $62,000 to $78,000 dependent upon qualification and experience. The position is also eligible to receive up to $1,800 in certification pay. The position includes healthcare, dental and life insurance an no cost to the employee. The City also offers a free fitness center for employees and an excellent retirement plan with the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS), which includes an employee deposit rate of 7$ with a City match ratio of 7% with a City match ratio of 2:1 and 5 year vesting. 

Job Description:

Police Captain is the second highest ranking command officer and reports directly to the Chief of Police. The Patrol Captain will be responsible for the day to day management and leadership of the Patrol Division, which includes direct oversight of all operations and personnel assigned to the Patrol Division. The Division consists of four sergeants, two corporals, and 12 officers, including a K-9 officer, assigned to 12 hour shifts. The Patrol Captain will also be responsible for the oversight for the Municipal Holding Facility, which includes four part-time jailers. In addition, the Patrol Captain will coordinate the training of all Patrol personnel and oversee fleet maintenance, the department's off-duty employment program, the mobile video recording and body camera recording systems, and the electronic citation writers.

Job Requirements:

Have a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience at the rank of Lieutenant or above in a municipal or county law enforcement agency in Texas.

Have a minimum of 10 years sworn law enforcement experience with the majority of the time in an agency in Texas.

Have a minimum of an Associates of Arts Degree in criminal justice, public administration, political science, or a related field.

Graduate of an advanced supervisory or command course, which includes the Law Enforcement Management Institute at Sam Houston State University, The Institute for Law Enforcement Administration in Plano, Texas, the FBI's National Academy, or a similar program.

Job Description:

Conducts criminal investigations, which includes interviewing witnesses, victims, and suspects, and collecting information and evidence that would lead to the apprehension and conviction of suspects.

Job Requirements:

Demonstrates sound knowledge of criminal law, investigation and crime prevention methods, and the knowledge of the rules of evidence and the laws governing the custody of persons and search and seizure.

Job Requirements:

Must be 21 years of age.  TCOLE certified.  Valid/clean driving record.  Able to work shift work, weekends, and holidays.  Must have high school diploma or have GED.  Must pass background check, written test, physical agility test, and oral review board.  2 years preferred but not required.  Testing will include written test, physical agility, polygraph, psychological testing, physical exam/drug screen, and oral review board.

Clute Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Telecommunications Operator.
